I wasn’t certain at the get-go that I could actually do 31 days of 31 days…and it looks like I was right! I took my own advice and have been enjoying lots of food and family this weekend, truly slowing down and savouring, and not worrying about not getting to the computer. So, technically it’s Day 8 – but I’m on Day 6.
I love Thanksgiving.
I love fall and orange and people and food, and Thanksgiving brings all of those things together.
But I love it most because it is a chance to acknowledge on a grander scale something I have been striving to acknowledge in my every day –
And when I stop to think about what there is to be thankful for – when I take the time to take inventory – am I ever blown away!
And the more I give thanks, the more I realize I have to give thanks for.
And when I live in awareness of my blessings, how can I not be happier?
So slow down, and savour with me. Open your eyes, and look around. Take a picture of it, jot it in a journal, tell someone you’re thankful for them.
“Give thanks to the LORD for He is good, his love endures forever!”
Today I’m thankful for…
– my hardworking husband leaving early on a holiday (the hard-working part, not the leaving part)
– a turkey in the fridge, and a kitchen to cook it in
– heat at the touch of a button
– boys sleeping in
– “there is a redeemer” (savouring this from church yesterday)
– the chance to share my boys with extended family
How about YOU? Start your count right here!
